The Rotherham Healthwave is all about making tiny changes, that can lead to some huge results in improving the quality of your life. We have partnered with Rotherham United Community Trust, Thomas Rotherham College and Rotherham Places for Leisure to offer a wide range of activities all across the borough and all free for you to access. In the members section we have a list of activities and some of the health benefits you’ll get from taking part. A huge part of this is boosting our mental health, whatever your fitness levels there is an activity for you. So come along, meet some new people and lets get active!

There are already some great programmes out there that you can join for free – Like Couch to 5k. You can also read our Medical Directors Blog about some of the health benefits of living a more active life.

Why getting active is so important?

Physical Health – Regular physical activity is one of the most import things you can do for your health. The health benefits are far too numerous to list, but regular exercise can reduce the risk of hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke… the list goes on and on.

Mental Health – Being more active can have such a positive impact on your mental health and even help with you sleep better. Being more active releases feel good hormones that can improve your mood. It can also help with stress and anxiety levels.

Well-being – Being more active with the Rotherham Healthwave, will help you to meet people from your community. Hopefully we can develop our communities and help grow friendships, we can also signpost to so many fantastic services that already exist in Rotherham. The Rotherham healthwave is delivered by a Rotherham organisation for the people of Rotherham.

How can the Rotherham Health wave help you?

Activities – We have partnered with Rotherham United Community Trust to offer a wide range of free activities to support people to get moving. The activities are all across Rotherham and are suitable for all adults with all levels of fitness. You need to register and speak with a member of our team and they will help you find the right activities for you. We have also partnered with Thomas Rotherham College to offer some free activities on weekday evenings.

Keeping you active – We want to help keep you active, so we have some exciting initiatives to help you make some really positive long term life changes. We have partnered with Places for Leisure who manage the leisure centres in Rotherham and are offering discounted monthly membership rates at Places for Leisure for anyone who has accessed the Rotherham Healthwave.

Thomas Rotherham College have also offered discounts for their gym membership too.
